Canyoning Tour Lower Auerklamm

One of the most beautiful tours in Tyrol in the Ötztal!

For whom:
advanced

Highlights:
Abseiling height of up to 25 meters possible
Jumps of up to 10 - 15 meters possible
Slides up to 10 meters possible

Special features of the tour:
You can only experience so much on such a short distance in the Lower Auer Gorge. The given slides, jumps and abseiling points require determination and lead to strength from nature.

At our base in Ambach (located 2 km down the Mötztal valley), each participant is dressed in a special 5mm neoprene canyoning suit, helmet, hiking boots and a seatbelt. Take the minibus up to Ötzerau. We walk downhill until we reach the entrance to the Lower Auerklamm gorge in 10 minutes. Here, the state-certified canyoning guide explains and shows participants the correct behavior when canyoning during a detailed safety briefing.

Now it really starts: A short via ferrata leads down to the Auerklamm. The first natural rock slide about 6 m long washed out by water is imminent. This is slipped and abseiled on request. This is followed by an approx. 6 m high, partially overhanging abseiling point. Further down the gorge, there is a smaller slope, which we either climb ourselves using a rope mounted on the rock or by abseiling from a canyoning guide. The next obstacle is a vertical abseiling of approx. 10-12 m, right next to a thundering waterfall. It's time to overcome ourselves here, because if not yet, then we can impressively feel the wildness of this gorge now at the latest. Once at the bottom, it's over slippery stone slabs and floodwood further down the valley.

We'll stop at our barbecue area. Our canyoning guide proves his versatility by telling us A hearty meal with drinks around the campfire prepared. After this long lunch break, we recharged our batteries — and now we need them too! Attention! Grilling is only available on special request!

The second part of the tour requires sure-footed walking until we reach the next obstacle: the 15-meter high overhanging abseiling point has to be mastered. In the correct abseiling position or just somehow, we get ground under our feet again. After a few steps in the riverbed, we land on a rocky outcrop, from which we are abseiled down the first meters, then climb or slide down the last 3 m to 4 m. This is followed by a safe 3-way chain stand, from which each actor is abseiled down into a rock grotto. From the cave, we jump down about 6 m, directly into a white-foaming rock hot tub. But there is no reason to panic about the bubbling and roaring water: the buoyancy of our canyoning suit makes it possible to stay on the water surface with almost no swimming movement. So we can loosen the rope and swim to shore in peace.

Next passage: a rock caract about 10 m high. Fixed ropes and abseils help us to overcome this obstacle. Now it's getting really impressive: abseiling straight into a huge, dark dome of the rock carved out over millions of years. From here, we are abseiled at lofty heights over an anchored steel cable over a thunderous amount of clog in which the white spray foams up. Briefly take a deep breath again, because now there is an approx. 12 m high jump into a 5 m deep, round rock gums (abseiling possible). And where we are in the swing right now, there is an approx. 6 m slide, again partly in free fall. After overcoming a few large boulders and two other smaller abseiling points, we come to the end and end of this tour.

After just a five-minute walk, we are back at our base, where the hot showers and sauna await us. At the end, the canyoning guide presents the participants with their certificate of the successful and impressive canyoning tour Untere Auerklamm.
